2008 Huskies Take Home First Ever Passing Tournament ChampionshipFiled Under (General Info) by Coach Ken on 13-07-2008Three days off of winning the Competitive Edge camp, the Huskies did not become complacent. Instead they did what no other Huskies teams has ever done before…They won the San Mateo Passing Tournament on Saturday of a high powered field of 25 teams. Teams from all over Northern California were there, including Serra, Palo Alto, Granada, Burbank and Sacred Heart Prep. The Huskies dominated their initial section winning all 4 games over Half Moon Bay, Serra, Burbank, and Westmont. They rolled into the playoffs with the #1 seed for the 2nd year in a row. But this year with a few more players for depth they did not let up. The closest game coming to Burbank again in the semi-finals who were the one team that could match athlete for athlete against the Huskies. The defense had a nightmare trying to stop their precision passing game and fast WR’s, and the offnense struggled to connect on the long ball which kept the game tight. The offense needing five completions in a row to move on, dug down deep and came away winners. The Huskies then defeated Palo Alto fairly easily as the defense stepped up and made some key knock downs and Interceptions. The offense hit a few long TD passes to seal the victory.

2008 Huskies Back to Back in “King of the Field”Filed Under (General Info) by Coach Ken on 13-07-2008The Washington High School Varsity football team (with the help of some select JV players) won the “King of the Field” honors at the Competitive Edge Football Camp for the second year in a row. They also took home the “Speed and Agility” contest for the third year in a row. First year varsity QB David Ross continues to lead the spread and big play offense. The offense has made big plays a habit, which is different from the past Huskies teams where we had a more grind it out style. Big plays led by returners Rahsaan Vaughn, Elbert Kirby, and Anthony King. The big turn around on offense has come by way of the Offensive Line as there was a complete makeup at those positions due to a heavy senior class that moved on last year. Based on speed and precision the offensive line so far has made the biggest impression on the coaching staff. Varsity newcomers WR Jeremy Richard and TE Kevin Pineiro have continued to make their plays as well. Giving the Huskies an extreme height advantage against most every team. The defense stepped up as well led by DE Cedric Lousi who was named camp stud as well. The defense has had a major turnover as there are 9 new starters from last years playoff team. But with some coaching additions and extra work in the weightroom they are really coming on, as turnovers are becoming more of a consistent thing. |
